Terminologija kablov

Za lažjo prepoznavnost imajo kabli različne oznake, katerih pomen je včasih morda nejasen. Zaradi tega, smo sestavili naslednjo tabelo.
 

FRNC FRNC
Negorljiv – Brez korozivnih spojin pri izgorevanju.
Ti tipi  kabla so narejeni v skladu s smernicami za protipožarno zaščito.
FEP
 
Fluorirani etilen-propilen
iz termo-plastičnega (TP) materiala z dobrimi električnimi izolacijskimi lastnostmi. Ima visoko odpornost proti skoraj vsem organskim in anorganskim snovem, kemično in temperaturno izjemno odporen.
Fillers Polnila
Neprevodne žile ali cevi za izboljšanje določenih lastnosti kabla brez spreminjanja temeljnih lastnosti kabla. Na primer, okroglost, prožnost, trdota, ali kombinacijo vseh treh, na kabel.
Halogen free Brezhalogenski
V primeru požara ta kabel ne razvija strupenih plinov. To je pogosto zahteva v javnih zgradbah. Brez dodatnih obdelav je brezhalogenski kabel gorljiv.
IEC 60332-1 Ta standard ureja razred oz. stopnjo ognjeodpornosti glede na nizkodimne brezhalogenske kable. To zmanjšuje količino nevarnih/strupenih plinov v primeru požara. Glavna razlika med UL 1581, UL 1666, in UL 910 je, da lahko kabli iz IEC specifikacije še dalje gorijo in bo še vedno zelo nizka stopnja emisije plinov. UL specifikacija zahteva, da plamen ugasne, vendar lahko še vedno oddaja nevarne/strupene plinoe. Danes je pri skoraj vseh srednje velikih in velikih obratih v Evropi zahtevana specifikacija IEC. 
IEC 60332-3 Ta standard je bolj zahteven od IEC 60332-1, saj določa kabelske snope. Številni javni organi že zahtevajo, da morajo nove naprave izpolnjevati IEC 60332-3. 
PE Polietilen
Termoplastični material ima odlične električne lastnosti. Nizka in stabilna dielektrična konstanta pri vseh frekvencah z zelo visoko stopnjo izolacijske upornosti. Polietilen je trda izolacija. Odpornost na vlago je ocenjena zelo dobro.
PUR Poliuretan
Ta plašč se uporablja za različe težke pogoje, še posebej so kabli odporni na nizke temperature (-40 °C) . Kabel je odporen na UV žarke.
PVC Polivinilklorid
Splošni namen uporabe je raznovrsten za različna okolja. Možnost izdelave kablov v različnih barvah.
TCWB  TCWB (Tinned Copper Wire Braid)
Pokositren oplet iz bakrenih žic. Namenjen zaščiti kabla pred zunanjimi električnimi vplivi.
